The biggest change to Rock 'N Roll with this update is the following changes made to choosing difficulty 1 before you begin a game:
- The name of Difficulty 1 has changed from "I'm a Wuss" to "Take it Easy on Me!" ..After all, not everyone is a classic action arcade game extraordinaire (including myself) and just because you desire a less brutal game doesn't make you a "wuss"! I think this name for wanting to play an easier difficulty is a much better, less insulting choice.
- About 90% or more of the smallest asteroid chunk spawns have been eliminated by choosing difficulty 1 now as only "small" asteroids will ever break into chunks when shot and even that is 50% less likely than on higher difficulty settings.
- Hitting a small asteroid on difficulty 1 acts the same as hitting a small asteroid chunk on difficulties 2-4. The small asteroids (and chunks) will cause your ship to turn red and go into auto-repair mode for about 15-20 seconds and if you survive, you'll auto-repair back to full health represented by a blue colored ship.
- Because the VDS alien specifically is a very challenging enemy, NO VDS will EVER spawn on difficulty 1. The floating death skull will now spawn either a Kamikaze worm or a RSA (Random Shooter Alien) if it is touched.
- Spawns of the RSA (Random Shooter Alien) and the Kamikaze worm are now about 70% less likely to occur when you choose difficulty 1. Unless you touch the floating skull, you should have a lot of time to blast the asteroids without needing to fear the Kamikaze worm blowing you up or the RSA shooting you down.
Nothing else has changed, you'll still need to do well and score the same kind of points and money and everything to prevent getting an "F" score in the final scoring and the scoring and money and pricing of items is being left unaltered on difficulty 1. It should just be much easier now to survive.
BUG FIXES:
- Fixed an issue with collecting a cannon ball power-up while injured. Now you should turn yellow as intended if you collect a cannon ball power up while you are injured (red) and you will not finish healing until your cannon ball power up has expired and you return to the red damaged state for the remainder of your repair time required.
- Fixed an issue that would cause the game to continuously loop through the main menu with some specific controllers and/or controller states preventing proper play of the game.
- Fixed an issue that would cause a kamikaze worm to sometimes immediately disappear if it spawned too close to an asteroid.
That's about it, please let me know what you think of the new "easier" and "less brutal" difficulty 1 gameplay. Is it still too hard? Did I make it too easy? Be sure and let me know your thoughts below!
Have fun out there!
