For Tales of Candlekeep, our team has found its inspiration for the sound design and music by reading on Acererak, Chult, and the death curse. We used a lot of ethnic instruments, like flutes and percussion, that aren't usually played and heard together. We believe it gives an interesting take on what the music from this land would sound like. We also tried to give a sense of wonder while keeping it eerie and menacing to remind the dark presence of Acererak.
The sound design is pretty straight forward. We wanted to complement the visual without stealing the show. All the sounds for the spells, the powers, and the attacks have a certain weight to them to keep them punchy and interesting. The sound for the interface are a bit different, however. Our team has tried to keep it more subtle and use real material sounds. For instance, we used processed bells and wood chimes for some of the buttons.
What are your first impressions on #TalesfromCandlekeep's main menu soundtrack, The Jungles of Chult?
