Affliction,
Hey everyone!
I wanted to stop by and give a status update on the development progress of Affliction.
The first map is nearly completed, it just needs to be populated with items, enemies, etc. It came out looking really well, or so we believe. Over the course of two weeks, the map itself took up over 18 hours to create so far. We put a lot of time and care into the design of our games so we can make as enjoyable of an experience as we possibly can. It may take us longer to finish the game, but we strongly believe it will be worth it in the end.
A large amount of work is already done on the second map, but it is nowhere near completed. We'll have updates on that whenever possible.
We're planning to have a lot of different maps and scenarios that form a greater story so the mapping will take time.
Weaponry in the game is fairly finished, at the exception of new weapons being added. Currently there are six weapons in the game, but we may be adding a few more.
Enemies in the game already have a lot of variety and there are tons of them, but we're going to continue to explore different ideas and see what fits into the game.
Systems such as the HUD, movement, and interaction are still being fine tuned and will most likely be polished and altered until release.
Sound effects are still something that we'll be working on, probably until release.
Items in the game are also nearly finished. There are several items which can help players on their adventure ranging from bandages to a flashlight. There are also going to be a ton of lore items to help the story move along and give background information as well as useful hints and tips that can help the player in a bind.
The storyline is all thought out and planned but we're still looking into different possibilities about presentation.
The roleplaying version of the game has been revamped and revised several times. We believe it is now in a very fun and enjoyable state. We will release this just as we've released the roleplaying rules for our previous games.
The soundtrack for the game is completed and we think it came out sounding great. We can't wait to see what everyone has to say.
Artwork for the game is done too. We're just working on getting some extras for the storyline.
Anything I've forgotten to mention is likely to be added later or in future status updates. I've requested to put the game into Early Access mode so players can enjoy it early, get a discount for buying it early, and help contribute ideas to making a better game. Like our previous work, we believe the best games are created when the people playing them have a say about how or what the game is. Early buyers will play the game almost as if it were in episodes upon the release of each new update and each major update will feature a new map/mission. That is the plan.
Like always, I'll continue to keep everyone updated.
