It’s been a busy few days at Zero Gravity and our team managed to crank out yet another update that addresses some of the largest issues reported so far. Most notably object rotation/position updates. This will affect various problems like asteroid collision, jittery ship/station movement and docking related problems.
Five days have passed since the awakening and so far we have seen a lot of interesting things happen. What we did not see coming was that all of this commotion in a once dormant system would cause some rather unexpected side effects. The asteroids woke up as well…
It is somewhat understandable, after all they had no one but other asteroids to play with for millions of years and it was the same old game of orbital tag. Suddenly there were all these people running around, fixing ships, looking for resources and the asteroids could no longer hide their excitement. We know they just wanted to play, but we still had to calm them down somewhat. After a lengthy discussion with our programmers asteroids have agreed to behave, at least for now. Our team would greatly appreciate your input should some of the asteroids break their promise.
Another thing of note is the rework of the shuttle/module RCS system. These tweaks should allow for more accurate control when it matters most. As many of you know already, the shuttle craft everyone is flying around in isn’t exactly small. It is in fact larger than many of the station modules. After this patch this should be reflected in the controls as the shuttle should now feel more inert when attempting fast turns, but more responsive and accurate during docking procedures and other precision maneuvers. RCS stabilization still fires at full thrust right of the bat and will allow you to stabilize your ship as fast as before. In addition, this improved control at low speeds will allow you to bring your ship to a near full stop relative to your target providing the workaround for the “temporarily absent” match velocity command.
There are a few more things of importance in this update but we will single out the station/ship system synchronization update. Once docked, all systems on ships and stations will now properly connect and allow you to transfer cargo from one ship/station to another and all system panels should update to show additional sub-systems.
Also our Q&A team expresses their thanks for all the feedback you’ve provided so far. Since they have a lot of work analyzing various bug reports they apologize for not being able to reply to each and every one of them.
Cheers!
Zero Gravity team
