We’re getting ready to push out a new update but before we send it to all Trailmakers we’re letting people opt in to our public “upcoming” beta branch! To opt in simply right click Trailmakers, go to Properties and then the Betas tab. Select “upcoming - Experimental build of upcoming release” and Steam will download this update.
This will update Trailmakers from 0.4.0.10949 to 0.4.0.11167.
Opting out is the same process, except you just select “NONE” to return to the release version of Trailmakers.
Please note, you will only be able to see and join Multiplayer games with people playing the same version.
Stay tuned for more news on coming updates later this week!
General
- We updated the placeholder zipline and plank models with finished ones!
- Added a work in progress water splash when wheels are in water.
- We’ve added a toggle for the GIF Recorder feature in Preferences, only accesible from the Main Menu. If you’re experiencing performance issues, try turning it off and let us know if you notice a difference!
- Transformation should be more sturdy! Transformation is still considered an Experimental feature, however!
Expedition
- We’ve repositioned some of the awkwardly placed Bolts in the Expedition. If you’ve already collected them, you won’t need to find them again.

Builder
- Added a few more checks to Blueprints on import.
Performance
- We’ve been looking into the RAM usage issues and we’re making numerous changes to texture file sizes, this update includes the first of several updates we have coming related to this. Again, please let us know if you notice a difference!
- Made more steps towards eliminating the weird stuttering people on higher end machines have been seeing.
