I've just uploaded a beta to test twin-stick controls, you can find it under 1_1_beta in the game betas panel.
I'm having more fun with the gamepad now (although I still prefer mouse only controls) but I need some feedback from you as I'm not sure how to proceed yet. Please give it a try.
A quick rundown:
- Movement and firing directions are independent for all ship stages.
- If you are not using a 360 controller you'll probably want to rebind the stick axes. Go to menu > controls.
- You can play with mouse + wasd now.
- You can still play with mouse only.
- Single stick gamepad controls is still supported by using the fire button instead of the right stick.
