Hey there!
With this update, we shed even more of our Early Access skin. We've added a sexy new main menu (the old one was a placeholder), and several other big improvements to the game's interface. We've also made big changes to the core gameplay by increasing the number of enemies on hard, encouraging... *gasp* tower defense!
Here's what's new:
INTERFACE
- Added a brand new main menu! This one matches the Exoverse theme, and fully animates.
- Added a new par tower expenditure icon to the HUD during planning phases. This icon lets you know when you've gone over budget (if you care!).
- You can now mouseover the portals on the tab screen map to see upcoming enemies.
- You can now mouseover your inventory in the lower left corner when in shops.
- More tooltips are now available for all result screens.
- Added an animation for changing between tab screens and shops.
CORE GAMEPLAY
- Increased the number of enemies on hard by 50%. Build some bigger mazes!
- Your kill streak window is now slightly more laxed until reaching cosmic (23+).
- Your kill streak timer now pauses until your power shot animation finishes (rather than ending once it fires). This gives you more time to get a reload off after your power shot to keep your streak going.
- End of area rewards are now very similar to end of round rewards. You're rewarded for not taking damage, protecting the Beacon, not going over budget, etc. Additional multipliers are given for meeting the par in *all* rounds.
ADDITIONS & IMPROVEMENTS
- Added new animations for the Pulsar! Still needs gameplay tweaks, but it's looking great now, and uses the right set of arms for all characters.
- Movement keys can now be used during top-down mode to move the camera.
- The camera and player position are now tied together in top-down mode.
- When highlighting a tower base, the health bars of neighboring barricades are now shown too (for the sake of repairs).
- Minor fixes and improvements to the first tutorial.
- The first tutorial now spawns much sexier weapons.
- Enemies that haven't been defeated yet now have a "???" icon in portals.
- Added various sounds to the tab screen and shops for things like highlights and screen changes.
- Increased the budget on Metroplex I.
FIXES
- Fixed an issue that prevented anything from displaying when in windowed mode at a resolution equal to the desktop resolution.
- Fixed some minor slowdown when picking up certain weapons for the first time.
- Fixed some walking/sprinting sounds during top-down mode.
- Profile progress is now saved as soon as it's made.
Thanks everyone! We'll see you out there in the Exoverse!
