We're happy to announce that the first major content drop for Outbreak is now available. It includes a significant amount of free content, as well as some new cosmetic DLC. Let's take a walk through the major changes.
New Characters - Stan and Kass - Free!
The community has been very vocal about the desire for new characters and that they should be free! We're happy to announce we've met both of those requirements with the addition of Stan and Kass to the character roster!
Stan
Stan is a seasoned contractor and experienced foreman.
Stan is a melee focused character. He has tank-like health (similar to Mason) and has buffs for all melee interactions. Stan deals 20% more melee damage (with or without a melee weapon), has increased knockback and a higher chance for melee critical hits. Unfortunately, this all comes with a cost. Stan deals 20% damage with firearm attacks.
Stan is best played by folks who want to lead the charge and hold off the hordes while friends snipe over their shoulder from afar. Stan starts with the Pick, which is the most powerful melee weapon in the game. He's capable of significant damage right out of the gate!
Kass
Kass is a retired police officer and seasoned detective.
Kass has some significant benefits as well. She can detect items (which become visible on your map) at a much greater range than other characters. She makes an effective single player character with a decent health level who can very easily find any piece of equipment around her. Even better, she is completely immune to poison status (either from enemy attacks or the environment).
Kass compliments a full party nicely by allowing her to enter areas full of poison that would destroy other teammates. She can be the lifeline to get that key lost in the poison on Miasma, or fend off a poisonous enemy (like the new Spider) first-hand.
New Onslaught Scenarios - Inferno & Depths - Free!
Inferno and Depths help broaden the Onslaught experience by returning to two areas of the campaign.
Inferno
Inferno takes place in the finale furnace hallway from Chasmal. With flames burning everywhere, you're trapped in a tight maze with a very linear path. Inferno doesn't have any locked doors, which means enemies can come from any area of the level. The evacuation hallway is still present, so you could choose to hold up there and make your stand if you wanted... but beware of enemies that will spawn close by and a lack of supplies.
Depths
Depths returns to the introduction of the Miasma scenario. Trapped in the Lyceum basement, you'll be forced to fend off the murderous hordes. You'll spawn with ample supplies around you, but you'll find that resources run thin very quickly, especially since threats can come from any direction. Can you survive 30 waves?
New Enemy - Spider - Free!
The mutated spider joins the undead and monstrous ranks. Featuring a slash attack that will knock you back and a poisonous discharge when hit, it'll become a fearsome opponent. The spider helps mix up the current scenarios by randomly appearing in its two variations across the game. Be careful if you're a melee fighter!
New Player Customization - Free & Paid DLC
Outbreak now supports character skin changes for any character. These effects modify your appearance and can add some interesting cosmetic animations. Want to become a firery visage of your former self? Check! Want to become a hologram? Check!
We've provided four free customization options (Ice, Hologram, Invis & Bounce). For a small fee, you can also unlock the Fire, Lightning, Rainbow and Gold effects. These paid effects are premium offerings with cool animations or other effects.
