Outbreak now has a new trailer and screenshots available!
A fresh look in the apocalypse...
Outbreak received some major graphical upgrades in the last month. Featuring bloom lighting, lens flares, a dirty lens effect and more. Outbreak is a dark and somewhat gloomy experience, but there are brief respites of light in this nightmare. We wanted there to be a tradeoff to being in the light, most notably making it harder to see what is happening around you.
Chasmal, the second scenario...
We've recently hit content complete on the second full scenario in Outbreak, Chasmal. Chasmal takes place after the survivors initial visit to the hospital and features their attempt to escape through the underground. You'll learn more about the epidemic and deal with a particularly troublesome furnace. One of the major themes of Chasmal is fire, which has spread completely out of control.
Game Enhancements
We've been hard at work squashing bugs and adding many quality-of-life improvements to the game. These have included massive improvements to the overall UI and general gameplay, but there's way too many to list here. One area we'd like to call out though is the map system. It will display the general area around you and mark important objects like items, doors and objectives. When you touch an item (or if you or a friend drops one), it will remain marked on your map. Friendly players will appear on the map with their associated in-game color.
Outbreak's Website
We just wanted to quickly mention that the project webpage for Outbreak has been updated with a new look. It also has all of the new media content outlined here. Check it out and share Outbreak with your friends!
What's Next?
In a word, content. Outbreak's core game mechanics are complete and the entire UI is built-out. We've integrated all Steam functionality like achievements, trading cards, in-game consumables and more. The next big step is to continue creating the remaining scenarios and then focusing on game balancing. We remain hopeful that we'll be able to bring Outbreak to Early Access sometime in Winter 2016. Keep your eye on our Steam page and project website for updates! Thanks for your support and we're looking forward to surviving with you!
