Almost everything in this update came from the Steam discussions. I was not
being notified of new threads here and only found out a few days ago, so some of
you had been waiting a while. Sorry about that, and thank you for reporting
these.
FIXED
- Prey from a multi-prey wave could survive into the Pit Nucleus fight. If your
Hunger ran out while you were facing several structures at once, the Nucleus
rose but its companions stayed on the field, and your swarm split its bites
between all three. The Nucleus was taking a third of the damage it should
have, which is why its health bar barely moved.
- The interface no longer shrinks on high resolution monitors. It was drawn at
fixed pixel sizes, so the more resolution you had, the smaller everything got.
There is also a new UI size slider in Options.
- Windowed mode gives you an actual window. Leaving fullscreen used to hand you
a window the size of your whole screen, with no edges you could drag. You can
resize it now, and there are resolution presets in Options.
- The swarm's glow no longer washes out the structure you are eating.
- The Nucleus health percentage is readable against its own bar again.
- Heavily chewed cells stay visible instead of fading into the background, which
made structures look more destroyed than they were.
- Less repeated text on screen during the Nucleus fight.
CHANGED
- Essence no longer rewards restarting. Killing one prey and quitting was paying
more per minute than playing a full run, which is backwards. Short runs now
pay very little and full runs pay what they always did. If you were farming
quick restarts, that stops working, and I would rather tell you than let you
find out.
- The game starts at 40% volume instead of 100%. Fresh installs only: if you
have already set your volume, it stays where you left it.
- The version number now shows in the corner of the main menu, so you can tell
me which build you are on when something goes wrong.
STILL OPEN
Steam Deck. The text is too small there, and scaling alone will not fix it
because the menus are built for a taller screen. If you play on a Deck and want
to help me measure it, say so in the discussions.
And above all, thank you so much for all the feedback you've given me!
