The wait is over! The public demo for Order of the Sinking Star is now available to play for the duration of Steam Next Fest: June 2026 Edition from Monday, June 15th at 10am PT (5pm UTC) until Monday, June 22nd at 10am PT (5pm UTC)! The Steam Next Fest demo delivers a meaningful slice of Order of the Sinking Star -- enough to challenge, surprise, and even spark theories of the game’s overarching mystery.
Below you'll find an overview of the demo, and why it’s one of the can’t-miss demos to check out during Steam Next Fest.
- 100+ Handcrafted Puzzles in the Demo Alone: A robust introduction to the game’s evolving mechanics and layered puzzle design. There will be over 1000 handcrafted puzzles in the full game available later this year, so this demo just scratches the surface!
- One Non-Linear Overworld, Three Magical Worlds: Come and go as you like, as you enter the Overworld, explore three magical worlds and take on a slew of mind-bending puzzles at your own pace. Each world has its own rules, heroes, and challenges -- and you’ll begin to decipher the grand mystery within Order of the Sinking Star!
- Progress Carries Over to Full Game: Any progress made in the demo will transfer to the full game at launch later this year, so there’s no need to worry about having to start fresh when the game’s available.
- Content Update this Friday, June 19: A major update will expand the demo with even more puzzles to tackle, and you’ll even be able to experience what happens when the worlds of the game start to collide.
- NVIDIA GeForce NOW Support: With the power of GeForce NOW, you can stream Order of the Sinking Star on any device and anywhere you want. Whether you’re at home or on-the-go, the world of Order of the Sinking Star is always within reach.
- Play via Steam Deck: While Steam Deck Verification is still pending for the full release, the demo runs pretty smoothly on Steam Deck! Ongoing optimization will continue throughout development, with the goal for the game to be Steam Deck Verified by release.

When and where can I play the game exactly?
This public demo is part of the Steam Next Fest: June 2026 Edition, which means you’ll be able to play Order of the Sinking Star via Steam between Monday, June 15th at 10am PT (8am UTC) and Monday, June 22nd at 10am PT (8am UTC). After that, the demo will not be available any longer.
Do I need to register or sign up anywhere to play this demo?
No! All you need to do is download the demo from our Steam Store Page, and you’re ready to go!
Is the demo available worldwide or only in certain regions?
The demo is available worldwide!
Can I stream the game or share footage?
Absolutely! There is no NDA in place for this public demo, and we encourage you to stream or share your screenshots and thoughts across all channels.
What content is available to play? I heard it’s a massive demo.
That’s true, indeed! You’ll be able to take on around 110 levels in addition to parts of the overworld, which connects the different game worlds.
At first, you can explore three of the base worlds that start off the game. Then, on Friday, we'll unlock more of the demo, and you can play some of the content where the game's worlds collide!
Is a controller/gamepad required or supported?
The demo does have controller/gamepad support! That said, it can be played on mouse and keyboard or controller/gamepad -- whichever you prefer.
Are there any limits to play time?
No, you can put in as many hours as you like between Monday, June 15th at 10am PT (8am UTC) and Monday, June 22nd at 10am PT (8am UTC). Just remember to stay hydrated and get some sleep!
Will my game progress in the demo be saved for game launch?
Yes, it will! The progress you make in this demo will carry over to the launch version of Order of the Sinking Star on Steam later this year.
Is this demo available in different languages?
Yes! In addition to English, this demo is available in German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. You can change the language by right-clicking the game in your Steam Library and selecting ‘Properties’. In the following menu, navigate to the ‘General’ tab and select your desired language from the dropdown menu under ‘language’.
Please be aware that the localization of Order of the Sinking Star is still a work-in-progress at this stage of development, and you might encounter placeholder translations or untranslated content in these other languages. We’re aiming to have the game text fully localized by the time it launches later this year!
