Note: This beta is now over. Thanks for participating.
Adding a body in for Update #3 has led to a massive amount of rework of pretty much all of the existing game mechanics. I'm also having to do an extreme amount of tweaking and polishing to get the new arm and body movement to line up with your real-life body as closely as possible while keeping the feel of the physics as good as I possibly can.
I don't want to delay an update any further, but I also don't want to push out a half-baked release to everybody, so I figured it would be appropriate to go ahead and spin off a beta that anyone who's interested in trying out in-progress updates can jump in and preview.
What the beta build currently includes:
- You now have a body and arms!
- You can use your new arms to deflect, parry, and block.
- Punches now do damage based on the force of the swing and how clean the hit lands. There is a fairly low cap on how hard you can hit, so no need to swing with absolutely all your might. The actual numbers used for this are very likely to be adjusted during the preview and after it goes live.
- Damage opponents do works the same as it does for the player. The player can now take partial damage from hits instead of always taking the maximum amount of damage.
- Blocking is now based on physics by redirecting or softening your opponent's swings, and is much less safe. Expect to get hit some while trying to block.
- Sneak preview of two new opponents! These guys are in a very early state and currently have Joe's moveset, but are already very unique to fight.
What's not yet included:
- Although you have a body, you can't actually get hit there yet, and opponents aren't trying to attack you there.
- Opponents currently don't try to block or dodge your swings at all.
- A large amount of polishing and tweaking still needs to be done.
The Update #3 beta is now over, but don't hesitate to leave me feedback on the Steam discussion board or shoot me an email at [email protected].
Thanks, and enjoy!
