Update #3 is out tonight, with many features that have been in the beta branch for the last week being polished and brought over. Feedback on the body and arms was very mixed, but the other changes in the beta were well received, so I've gone ahead and brought those over. I haven't abandoned plans to include the body, but it won't be pushed live until it feels just right. Thanks to all those that took the beta survey!
Notes:
- New Opponent! Those of you who have beaten Luis will now see a poster for Edmund Cryer, "The Spider". Many of you were able to check him out in the beta build. He's now got his own set of moves and is available on the main branch, but keep in mind that the whole game is still constantly being tweaked, and Edmund will see changes, tweaks, and polish going forward.
- The damage of your punches is now based on the force of your hit instead of the distance your fist travels. There is a relatively low cap on how much damage your hits will do, so there is no need to swing with all of your might. Practice on the trainer - if you're making him flinch, you're hitting about as hard as you can.
- Enemy damage to you is also physics based.
- Blocking is now physics based. Enemy punches can work their way through and around your guard, so blocking isn't as safe as it was previously. You can also redirect opponents attacks with your "arms".
- Hitting the opponent's body now does less damage than hitting their head and will no longer cause a knockdown.
- Enemy hit reactions are now partially physics based, instead of just being a canned animation.
- New venue! Kind of. You now fight Joe in the gym at night. This is where the first group of "less professional" opponents will be fought, and like all things in the game right now, expect tweaks going forward.
- The trainer has some new duds, including some height enhancing shoes.
Thanks to everyone for your support!
