Hi coaster friends!
Today it's exactly one year ago that Alpha 1 was released - can you believe it? It's been a year full of excitement, great content, fun livestreams, community collaborations, and 365 days of our minds being blown by the amazing things you all achieve within Planet Coaster.
We'd like to say a few words to you, our awesome community, who've been so supportive since the very beginning:
"The Planet Coaster community have been amazing from the beginning and at each part of our journey have amazed us with their enthusiasm and positivity. It's been an amazing project to be a part of and I'm very grateful to the community for the part they've played in it."
Senior Producer Rich Newbold.
"I would like to give a big thanks to 3PMusic and Nathan for helping us at PAX this year; it was really hard work being on your feet all day and talking to hundreds of people but these guys made it look easy. I'd also like to thank everyone in the forums and the community for showing us so much support and love throughout."
Lead Artist Sam Denney.
"Mostly thanks to all the people who were at the launch party and of course Chris Sawyer for coming in and giving us mascot acting advice! And thanks for a constant stream of positivity within the community!"
Head of Animation Nick Rodgers.
"Being a part of the Planet Coaster community has been an incredible experience. From the first day that we started showing content they’ve given us a wave of love, passion, and support for the game. This is a passion that the developers and community share in equal measure and it’s impossible to put into words just how important that support is. We’ve had the Coaster Head Club, meet ups with community groups, amazing ambassadors, awesome streamers, and so many fantastic community members. The community have been involved in alpha versions of the game and create so many outstanding creations, they’ve helped and continue to help shape the game and make it a wonderful place for people to come together over a shared passion. I’d like to take a second to give my personal thanks to an incredible group of people that I’m proud to have as my friends."
Head of Communications Zac Antonaci.
"What an amazing year it's been! Thank you so much for inspiring us as we've continued to craft our game with love and ambition. The feedback that we've received has been integral in shaping the Planet Coaster we have today. We are truly fortunate to have a loyal community with such expertise and passion. We've marvelled at your creations and it's been a pleasure sharing this experience with you all. Veyb oe!"
Senior Audio Designer and PlanCo Master James Stant.
"Has it already been a year!? I can remember the excitement of setting up the first pre-alpha stream… so excited to share the first ever in-game glimpse of what Planet Coaster would look like. You lovely people were so excited and thrilled to see in-game video content of Planet Coaster… the chat exploded, it was absolutely amazing. People literally couldn’t believe how sharp and awesome it looked, and I felt the same way! I was right there with you.
A year on and now you’re all master builders (better than me anyway) and I wouldn’t change a single moment of the lovely little rollercoaster ride we’ve all been on together! I’ve made some wonderful friends through the Planet Coaster community, and I can’t wait to make even more."
Senior Community Manager Edward Lewis.
"I have not known a game in my career with such a warm, enthusiastic, talented and creative community! You guys inspire us to always do better. We love Planet Coaster and we love that Planet Coaster is also loved by you all. It really is an amazing thing to see this world we created being used in ways that we could never have imagined. Please may that continue for many many years to come!"
Head of Audio Jim Croft.
"It's been a pleasure to work on a game that has such a thriving and wonderful community, thank you for reminding me why I'm in this industry."
Lead QA CJ Adali.
"It feels like just the other day when Planet Coaster launched, but amazingly – it’s been a year! Watching the community grow and the workshop explode with content in every avenue possible with no signs of slowing down, is quite humbling to see. Everyone in our community that’s been here during our Alpha, and up to now, should feel compelled that you have helped shaped the game, mold it into something really special. Here’s to a great 2017 and beyond!"
Community Manager Brett Cooper.
"One year ago I remember being so nervous about everyone getting their hands on the alpha, hoping that the community would like it, that it would be what they hoped it would be... And then all the community creations started appearing, everyone's amazing parks and coasters and buildings, and it gave me a really warm and fuzzy feeling, and it hasn't stopped ever since. Every day when I check the reddit I see another great build, or a wonderful piece of feedback or ideas from you all. It's so nice to know that the community is as invested in this game as we are, and the love you have for Planet Coaster never ceases to amaze me (and inspire me!). You all are great and lovely people and I hope that we continue to live up to your expectations! #InOurCommunityWeTrust"
Scenery Artist Liesa Bauwens.
"Even when the first alpha came out we were amazed at the ingenuity and passion of the fans. One year later and we’re so happy that people continue to enjoy Planet Coaster, come together through the community, and create things we couldn’t imagine were possible when making the game."
Lead Designer Andrew Fletcher.
"We wondered at Alpha 1 just where people would take the tools we were giving them. Did they even want them? Had we made the right decisions in offering so much freedom to create, manipulate, and sculpt the world in whichever way the player wanted?
A year later and those “people” are now fans and friends of the dev team and the only questions we have are what will the community make next. We never expected the concept of the “Master Builder” to become a thing but how else could the likes of early pioneers like Rudi Rennkamel, De-Lady-Signer, Silvarret be described. As the Planet Coaster following grew so did the number of stars creating gorgeous content for other players to when playing the game. We always dreamed that a cadre of unique personalities would emerge to share their vision using what we’d made and they certainly did. It’s extraordinary.
Your imagination ran rampant from day one but the levels of polish and ingenuity are so high these days. I’m thinking of awesome ways you’ve used the toolsets and the gameplay features to make profit-making parks filled with rides I couldn’t wait to experience myself, such as Death Star Strike, the wild reality of Silv’s Planet Coaster. I’ve also loved the ways you created scenes which describe a world beyond the park boundary.
The only thing I don’t thank you for is being too terrified to attempt to match your quality and efforts…though I have to say you’ve consistently inspired me to try!"
Director of Art John Laws.
"As a developer and a gamer, I have been part of communities from both perspectives. When we see opportunities, we talk; Because we care. Where we see the beauty (and the light) we share; Because we care. When we disagree, we are passionate, Because we care
In our love and our feedback on Planet Coaster; passion has been a truth we share. We lurk, think, respond, laugh, and are utterly amazed when you show the best of Planet Coaster. The community is exactly that: “The best of Planet Coaster.“
I cannot wait to see what the next year brings and what crazy, beautiful, amazing and funny creations you will share. Riding shotgun with you lovable people has been awesome!"
Audio Lead Matthew Florianz.
"You all know how special you are to me, and how much I love doing what I do thanks to you. From the very first time I had to do a livestream (*nervous twitches, cringe cringe*) you've been nothing but kind and supportive, and it's telling of the positivity and passion that oozes through this community. I feel very grateful every day for being a part of it all, to have met so many new friends, and can't thank you all enough from the bottom of my heart for being so welcoming and allowing me to grow. I'm also incredibly inspired by the amazing team behind Planet Coaster; their passion, dedication, and talent is very humbling to be around. Frontier Fam <3!"
Community Manager Bo.
