Minion Masters!
A new year begins. A year where we expect a lot to happen with Minion Masters.
2017 was amazing, but it’s nothing compared to 2018 - this is going to be Legendary.
For now, the Frostival has ended, and we’re bringing you a few changes to some cards that didn’t feel as good as we liked. A small patch, but worry not, January is going to be an appropriate start to this year.
End of event Frostival
- Frostival ended today.
- The Father Frostival Mordar skin cannot be acquired anymore
- The three new cards have been revealed:
- Magma Cannon (Rare) - A stable turret that fires flaming balls of magma at ground or air enemies.
- Cursebearer (Supreme) - Another living skeleton from among the Accursed. It curses nearby ground enemies, but also brings a big mace to the fight!
- Bridge Buddies (Supreme) - Ever wanted to take the Bridges while your opponent was pushing? Well these two Scrat buddies are here to help you, as they’ll tunnel to the Bridges and appear directly on them. They’ll even get “armor” if you already have the bridges!
- The cards are now available through Spins, chests, crafting and so forth.
Changelog for Update 56
Balance
- Wizard Puff - On death effect targeting tweaked, it may now retarget to another unit if its first target dies while charging. Also accounts for projected damage, and projects damage itself. --- Developer comments --- While the Wizard puff has a very powerful ability, a recent bug-fix caused the on death effect to often hit enemies that had just died, thus wasting both the potential to remove something and the Mana Puff that would be spawned. This new change will help the Wizard Puff feel much better, and make the on death effect more relevant.
- Soul Stealer
- Health up from 160 to 180
- Attack Delay down from 0.9 sec to 0.6 sec.
--- Developer comments ---
The Soul Stealer is a Minion we’ve changed a few times before, but the reason we’re taking very small steps in adjusting this card is because it has the potential to be completely dominant in the game.
With that said we felt it’s time to give him a bit more staying power, since he often got chipped down slowly by the very units he was supposed to handle.
With a reduced attack delay, there will also be fewer cases of him about to attack a target that gets killed by another unit, allowing him to claim kills. Most significantly though, he will be able to attack fast enemies such as Plasma Marines before they get a second shot off, further reducing the chipping he receives from small units. - Fire Imp
- Damage up from 40 to 50
- Attack Delay reduced from 1.5 sec to 1.0 sec
- Now predicts moving targets
--- Developer comments ---
The Fire Imp has a lot of potential, but in most situations turned out not to be very useful. With a massive weakness in flying, we felt it had to be more impactful in almost all ground engagements.
It also had the issue that it felt very clunky to play with its very long attack delay and cooldowns. These changes aim to make him more responsive when played, but also show promise much earlier in the fight by killing smaller units like Plasma Marines in one hit.
Additionally, by predicting his targets he will now be able to hit enemies that get close to him with the full length of the damage, rather than overshooting his enemies.
Quality of Life
- Clarified Cursebearer’s description to say “ground minions”
- Pings are now activated by holding down alt, then holding down the left mouse button to make the menu appear. Releasing the left mouse button activates the selected ping.
- The ranking symbol in the Main Menu has been sized down.
- Living Statue has received a new walk animation
