This update introduces our first attempt at a win condition. There is still a lot of work to be done, but I think you'll be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel :)
Ending Metric
The enemies forces are now numbered! Currently, each round consists of 200 enemies. This means that you will no longer battle until your arms are about to fall off, but instead try to push and hold as far up as possible until the enemy forces are exhausted.
Bosses
When the enemies forces run out, they will attempt a last ditch effort to crush your resistance, unleashing a single, powerful enemy against your current fortifications. Currently there is a single boss, however this is the perfect opportunity to test out many of the Giant Climber mechanics that we will be adding over time in a controlled yet interesting setting.
I won't spoil the current boss in these notes, since I think it will be a fun experience to see for the first time. However, in the future I think we'll be adding some really unique mechanics to the game in the form of new bosses (which will be randomly selected at the end of a game) that serve a dual purpose of testing as well as bringing more replayability to the current iteration.
Winning
The actual theatrics of winning are still under construction. Right now you get some audio fanfare and a different message (Keep Defended), but it's not that much different than losing. We will continue working on this, and I expect that we'll be adding some really cool things during the item-system rework.
Other Changes
- Can now grab arrows fired by other players
- Fixed arrow impact error
- SP Scoreboard has been reset as previous scores are no longer attainable
