Elite Enemy System
Thanks to community suggestions, the Elite enemy system has been completely recreated with a new codebase and design. Where previously elite enemies would all be treated the same (1.5x size increase, 3x health increase) by means of adjusting the base enemy, Elite enemies now are their own enemy type, each tied to a base enemy.
This allows Elite enemies to differ between enemy types and doesn't require any of the same synchronization issues that have been problematic in multiplayer. For instance instead of a health increase, Elite smoker enemies might have a larger smoke radius that was off center (currently, all enemies still follow the general formula 1.5x size increase and 3x health, but the system is there for any number of changes per enemy).
Other Changes
Minimum shadow quality setting changed to 0.2 (instead of 0) due to shadows-off breaking the cave area.
