Demo Patch v0.2.3
The first public weekend of the Joint Venture demo brought a wave of reports from you all, and this patch clears every one of them. Thank you for playing, and keep them coming.
Fixed
- Ultrawide is unblocked. On 21:9 and 32:9 monitors in fullscreen, character creation cut off below "What Are You In For?" and the Register Inmate button sat off screen, locking you out of the demo on its very first screen. The whole UI now scales correctly at any aspect ratio: character creation, the payment terminal keypad, dialogue subtitles, and the feedback button all stay on screen. Standard 16:9 is completely untouched, and a couple of edge cases on 16:10 screens (including Steam Deck resolution) got fixed by the same pass. Thanks to Alex and Kid Milli for the reports.
- The pallet jack no longer lets go mid-push. Moving your mouse while pushing the jack into the truck would silently release your grip, over and over. Your hands now stay on the handle no matter what the mouse does. Let go by pressing the interact button again, or just ride it to the end of the track. Thanks to Cro0ked and Meekro for pinning this one down.
- Nothing gets lost outside the map anymore. A hard-thrown item could clip through a wall seam (one broom famously escaped at the fridge corner) and become unreachable forever. Escaped items are now automatically recovered right back to where they left the play area. Thanks to Pnuttgoes for the broom's obituary, which turned out to be premature.
- Tray items can't get stuck in the tray. When an impatient customer storms off, whatever was on their tray now scatters onto your shop floor as recoverable stock instead of occasionally wedging inside the sliding tray.
Improved
- Hold E to open the commissary. Opening the window gate is now a short hold with a progress ring, so a stray tap right after talking to someone can't fling the store open before you're ready.
- Boxes finally tell you what's inside. While you carry a box, the crosshair shows a live count of its contents, ticking down as you stock shelves and flipping to "Empty" the moment the last item leaves, so you can walk it straight to the trash. Looking at any box now also reads its contents and count on the label, which should make restock planning a lot less guessy. Thanks to DeepSpaceMatt, whose demo video called this one out.
Thanks for a great first weekend.
