Patch Notes - 03/14/2018 - Server Optimization and Texture Streaming Improvements

Server/Performance Optimizations

We’ve made an important change in the backend of the game that should make pings and general performance on populated servers significantly better going forward. Previous to this patch, many players noted that overall server performance was on a continuous downward trend the longer a server was up and running. We discovered that one of the key reasons for this particular issue is a memory leak related to enemy AI behavior. We've used this patch to clean up this leak to prevent unnecessary stress on servers over long periods of operation. Optimization continues to be a top focus for our programming team, so we really appreciate the consistent supply of feedback provided by the community in this regard.

Texture Streaming Improvements

For the last few months, you may have noticed that high quality textures have taken a long time to load in. With this patch, you should find texture streaming to be significantly improved! Clear, high quality textures will now load in much, much faster, making for a much more attractive gameplay experience.

Much More

In addition to the visual improvements and performance optimizations, we’ve also cleaned up a number of pesky bugs that have been reported by the community. We’ve fixed the issue that caused Mana Generators and Acid Pools to display improperly after last week’s patch, continued the process of differentiating Parties from Houses, and have added a few refinements to the recently released Broomstick League game mode.
