Dear Travelers,
We are back.
With the return of the DongWu premium edition, we'd like to take this opportunity to open our hearts to you once again.
Why did we turn DongWu: Odyssey into a premium single-player game?
The reasons are simple and pure:
To leave a place where our loyal players can continue playing, without ever worrying about server shutdowns or suddenly being unable to play one day. This companionship should not be cut off by past operational issues.
To make up for our regrets. The online version's operation was always difficult, and what made us even more guilty was that the original design framework caused an unstable gameplay experience. These problems troubled everyone for a long time and became a knot in our hearts. So we wanted, in the end, to get the most basic and core experience right, and deliver it wholeheartedly to those who love DongWu – this is what our team can and should do.
Moving from an online game to a premium single-player game has been a difficult transformation, but also a brave rebirth. We know this game is still not perfect, but it has always carried our original intention: "not letting the love come to an end." If you are a veteran player, welcome back to relive the memories. If you enjoy Darkest Dungeon‑style games, we hope you'll come and explore this world as well~
Now, let us share with you the core changes in the premium edition:
✅ Completely removed all microtransactions – one‑time purchase, pay once and play to your heart's content.
⏳ New "in‑game month" mechanic – Replaces the original online version's 24‑hour real‑time refresh. Main story objectives must be completed within a countdown (ample time on Easy/Normal difficulties, more challenging on higher difficulties). Also handles in‑game refresh functions.
👥 All characters freely recruitable – Removed fixed character badges, replaced with universal badges for upgrades. The recruitment and upgrade methods are for you to discover.
🎙️ New narration system – Enhances story immersion, guiding you deeper into the world of DongWu.
⚰️ True permadeath – Once a character falls in battle, they cannot be revived or re‑recruited. Every decision must be made with care.
💾 Instant save feature – Save anytime, play at your own pace.
🔧 Equipment system optimizations – Increased rewards from the Compass Labyrinth, reduced costs for equipment polishing and forging – less grind, more fun.
We know this transformation may still have imperfections, but every change comes from our sincere commitment. To veteran players – this is still the DongWu you know, but now with a purer adventure. To new friends – welcome to this journey. ❤️
