A big update to the Tyrants Must Fall demo today, incorporating a major change to the combat system as well as related changes to the initiative system.
Updates
All units now have specific actions they will take depending on what row they are located in on their turn: Front, Middle, or Rear. Unit tooltips will outline exactly what action a unit will take from their current position.
Unit abilities have been broken out into four types: Ranged, Melee, Defense, or Support.
The initiative system has been updated to incorporate the new ability types. Ranged abilities still take place during the Ranged Phase, with the Melee Phase now split into three sub-sections: Defense, followed by Melee, followed by Support.
Unit status bar UI and the initiative UI updated to display more information regarding the type and timing of unit abilities.
New status effect: Dodge. Units with Dodge will completely avoid the next damaging attack made against them.
New status effect: Protect. Units in the Protect state will intercept the next damaging attack against an adjacent ally.
Multiple new animations and graphics for unit attacks and abilities.
Tutorial dialogue updated with new information about the battle system changes.
