Hello everyone!
Welcome to my very first official developer blog for Another Map Simulator. I’ve been working hard in Godot to bring this project to life, and today I'm finally pulling back the curtain on the systems that drive the simulation.
Our goal is to give you more than just a map to watch. We want to give you a sandbox where you design the "soul" of your nations before seeing how they fare across history.
The Five Pillars of Customization
In Another Map Simulator, the "Designer Hub" is where your journey begins. I have five nested designer systems that allow you to customize every aspect of your world:
Nation Designer: Set the stage, define your initial boundaries, and establish your nation's presence on the world map.
Trait Designer (The Ruler): This designer is focused exclusively on the individual leading the nation. Will your ruler be a benevolent diplomat, a paranoid warmonger, or an economic genius? These traits will drastically alter how the AI manages its expansion and internal stability.
Government Designer: Define the power structures. From iron-fisted autocracies to decentralized republics, the way your nation is governed dictates how it responds to crises and rebellions.
Culture Designer: What is the identity of your people? Set the social norms and cultural values that define the daily life of your citizens.
Religion Designer: Forge a faith that guides your people. Create beliefs that can unify a continent—or spark centuries of holy war.
The Road to the Demo
I am currently in the final stages of polishing a public playable demo. I am spending my time right now optimizing the AI decision-making trees and polishing all of the creation tools you will have at your disposal.
I want to hear from you! What kind of traits or crazy government types do you want to see available in the designer hub? Let me know in the comments!
If you haven't yet, please Wishlist and Follow the page to stay updated on the demo launch.
Until next time, Overdramatic Games
