Greetings!
I've been already asked a couple of times if AI was involved in any way in production of Dusklander so I'd like to clearly express my stance agains the use of generative AI.
I strongly oppose using generative AI in creative processes and especially in the process of making games. My firm believe is that it steals our creativity and the ability to truly express ourselves as artists and humans in general. I also don't like the fact that gen AI is trained using effects of humans hard work only to eliminate those people from the job market. I could go on and on why I oppose AI but the most importan poit is: I don't use it for anything. I don't use it for art, I don't use it for code I don't use it for music and I don't use it to write texts or translate them.
I'm aware that this approach is going to cost me more money and much more time then if I decided to cut corners and rely on AI. I'm still not going to turn into AI. Making games is my passion and I want Dusklander to be a fruit of hard work and passion, not something that relies on AI generated content.
This also applies to the assets I didn't do myself - music and illustrations. I require proof of no-AI usage when I commision any work for Dusklander. For example, you can see the capsule art timelapse here:
