V1.01 Update: Stability Patch

Hi all,

I've uploaded a new build of A House of Many Doors with some quick hotfixes. These include:

- Fixed a crash-to-desktop caused by player portrait alpha values. This was the bug that had been causing CTDs for most people. It slipped through the cracks of development at the very last minute. With it gone, I expect the game to be much more stable for 80% of players.
- Fixed infinite gambling loop at Clayton's Mill.
- Fixed a CTD when breaking up with Char. Her heart was so broken it killed the game.
- Fixed a CTD in Valeria dialogue.
- Fixed CTD issue with Tutorial tooltips.
- Fixed a problem with the Bandit achievement being rewarded wrongly.
- Fixed an infrequent issue with paused missiles causing CTD.
- Fixed a blank-dialogue issue at Gandola.
- Fixed a blank-dialogue issue at Eld Abrathat.
- Fixed a blank-dialogue issue in the Orchard dream.
- Fixed dependency issues in the Dreams of a Dancing God quest.
- Fixed scrambled dialogue options when speaking to Rotherford.
- Fixed useless dialogue options when you've invited Abbas to your lodgings.
- You can now successfully catch a toxin shark.
- You can now successfully flatter Lady Lucanid.
- You can now sell a living Dangerous Beast to the zoo in Founder's Fire, rather than a dead one (which I imagine would make for a more disappointing exhibit).
- Publishing short-story anthologies will now actually give you money, unlike real life.

If you've been experiencing errors at the end of combat, with the crash log mentioning a "lighting engine," you're in a small but understandably frustrated group of people whose PCs seem to have some incompatibility with the game. I've added something that I hope is a fix: Please switch your Combat Graphics in the Options menu from "Normal " to "Compatible." This should work for the moment - however, if not, please let me know. In the meantime, I'll do some work to find the root cause of the issue.

Over the coming few days I'll also do some work to improve the laggy map. I'll let you know when I post the update that improves this.

Final note: Your progress on the Magnum Opus decreasing every time you work on it is not a bug. :)

I hope you've been enjoying the game and can forgive this rocky start. I'm a one-man development team, and though I've been testing the game as much as I can for months, some bugs have obviously slipped through the cracks before release. This is no excuse, of course, which is why I've been working steadily to address your issues. This build is much more stable, and I hope most people's issues have been resolved.
