Months after New Eden, the Aurora is diverted to something crossing the frontier on a hyperbolic trajectory out of interstellar space.
Third confirmed drifter in observable Alliance space. The first two were watched and lost.
This one is emitting on a clock.
What changes starting with Episode 3
Episode 3 uses a new, more expressive voice engine across the full cast.
Sarah Novak in Episode 2 was the first test. Episode 3 brings it to everyone, with a much wider emotional range, more natural pauses and breathing, and performances that hold up better when scenes get tense.
The relationship system is live.
It has been recording quietly since Episode 1. It now has enough history behind it to act on. How the crew treats you, and how much they are willing to tell you when it is just the two of you in a corridor, follows from what you have actually done across the season so far.
The crew is becoming less predictable.
In the first two episodes, everyone largely settled into recognizable roles.
From here, those roles stop predicting every reaction. Under pressure, people can contradict themselves, lose their composure, or reveal sides of themselves you have not seen before. They are still the same people. You just know them well enough now to start seeing the contradictions.
Episode 3
A Marcus-focused episode in a survival-horror register.
8 choices, including two major decisions that carry forward into later episodes.
19 new achievements and 6 new Codex entries, including two voiced interactive Workshops.
New EVA suit artwork for the boarding party, plus new original music, sound design, and audio-reactive lighting effects inside the wreck.
Also new
The Codex opens from the pause menu. You can look something up mid-episode without losing your place, and new entries are flagged as you earn them.
Episodes now unlock in order. Each episode becomes playable once the previous one is completed, keeping your choices and relationship history continuous across the season.
Other improvements
Fixed fast-forward occasionally getting stuck.
Fixed Codex entries tied to past decisions, including affected Episode 2 entries. Missing entries will appear retroactively.
Fixed the leadership choice screen closing before the crew's vote was shown.
Various fixes and improvements to Episode 2 voice playback, audio balancing, Japanese text rendering, asset streaming and stability.
Existing saves carry over. If you have finished Episode 2, Episode 3 picks up your crew relationships and past decisions automatically.
