Holodance updated to Alpha 44: Unlocking Levels and Tracks

Today, we have pushed a fairly significant update to Steam: Holodance Alpha 44 is the first version that has an actual gameplay progression, so starting with this version, you need to unlock each level, and within each level, you need to unlock four instrument tracks. This way, you are guided through the game instead of being able to randomly access any content (and potentially being totally overwhelmed with a very difficult track). As a very practiced player (like, the main developer, for instance ;-) ), this now gives you half an hour of sequential gameplay and a decent progression in difficulty. If you still need to practice, getting through these first three levels will take you quite a bit longer.

Alpha 44 also brings quite a bit of polishing, like improvements to the UI, much improved choreographies for Level 2 and plenty of little bug-fixes.

One thing that's still missing in this version is an in-VR configuration menu: So if you want to switch between "Gamer" (scores flashing up in the game) and "Zen" (no distractions) mode, or want to reset your progress, or change the quality settings, you still need to use the companion window. This is rather high on our priorities and should go in this coming week. Also, in-game, you only see the overall highscores of each level. Via the Steam Library, you can already access Leaderboards for each individual instrument track.

This version was playtested on the 980 Ti (our primary development machine) and a 970 (our low-end testing machine), and runs really smooth.
