Who is Proto Man?
The first humanoid prototype robot developed by Dr. Light, Proto Man made his debut in Mega Man 3. Since then, he has appeared in several mainline Mega Man games and spin-offs - sometimes as an enemy and sometimes an ally in Mega Man's fight for everlasting peace. He has grown to become one of the series' most iconic and beloved characters.
Proto Man Gameplay
Proto Man fights using his Proto Buster and Proto Shield, giving him a different gameplay style from Mega Man. Mega Man can unleash long-range attacks with his Mega Buster or equip unique special weapons whereas Proto Man specializes in close-range combat, taking down enemies with an array of powerful attacks. Players can perform a variety of special moves by inputting specific commands, but using them in succession can cause Proto Man to overheat. Be sure to give him some time to cool down between attacks.
Powering Up: Custom Chips System
In Mega Man: Dual Override, players can use the Custom Chips system to change or enhance protagonists' abilities. Equip Proto Man with Custom Chips that make use of his unique combat style and discover distinct ways of battling.
Override System
This system allows Mega Man and Proto Man to release their limiter and gain strength beyond their normal capabilities for a short amount of time. Once Override mode is finished, the protagonists will remain vulnerable for a while, with various functions performing at reduced levels. Assess your surroundings and take timing into consideration to maximize Proto Man's true potential.
