Dydh da all! I hope everyone is having a proper 'ansome start to 2026!
We’ve been a little quiet lately, but that’s because we’ve been brewing up an absolute storm behind the scenes. Today, we are beyond excited to drop two massive pieces of news that are going to shape the future of BRINE.
THE FINAL ITCH.IO UPDATE...
Before we fully set sail towards our Steam Early Access launch, we wanted to give a massive send-off to the platform where this wild, fishy dream all started. The final update for the BRINE itch.io demo is officially live!
This update is our way of saying a massive meur ras (thank you) to the early players who gave our solo project a shot. Here is what you can expect in this final itch.io build:
A Boatload of Polish: We’ve squashed lingering bugs and smoothed out the performance to make this the definitive version of the classic demo.
The Gull Foot: Our new iconic pirate Volley gun can be played with in this demo! Have fun mowing down the hoard with shrapnel!
Revamped Encounters: Some old enemies present in level 1 have now been moved away to our other levels, to fix this we have rethought a handful of iconic combat encounters
While this is the last stop for the itch.io build, it marks the true beginning of our journey to Episode 1 here on Steam. The feedback from that demo built the foundation of what BRINE is today, and we couldn't have done it without you.
Now for the real "catch of the day"...
WE ARE JOINING FORCES WITH NOQUARTER!
Having NoQuarter on the extended team is quite literally a dream come true for us. Going from a solo passion project to an established IP was already bizarre, but having the backing of such an incredible partner takes things to a whole new level.
What does this mean for BRINE? It means we can make the game bigger, bolder, and better. With NoQuarter’s support and resources, we can focus entirely on delivering the high-octane boomer shooter experience you’ve been waiting for.
And don't you worry, we still have complete creative control. The Fisherman is staying just as grumpy, our weird and wacky version of Cornwall remains 100% intact, and the UK humour isn't going anywhere. NoQuarter is just assisting us in bringing that same humour to North and South America. It somewhat goes without saying but making something based on your local humour isn't necessarily hard - it's sharing that humour and pride with the world. A partnership like this goes a long way with preparing the game for a global audience.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Development on Episode 1 is firing on all cylinders. We have so much more to show you, from fresh levels to absolutely unhinged new weaponry.
If you haven't already, make sure to hit that Wishlist button and tell your mates! Every single wishlist helps us show the world that Cornwall is ready for a retro-FPS revolution.
See ya later and Yeghes Da!
