We want to personally thank everyone who has given feedback through our surveys or community outlets such as our forums, reddit, neogaf, etc. We are thrilled at the interest level that you’ve all expressed with Rising Storm 2: Vietnam. Fans of RS2: Vietnam, old and new, are expressing their praise of the Beta while still actively expressing feedback on varying elements they would like to see updated or changed. We’re lucky and honored to have such a wonderful, supportive and active community.
To the point above, we may not always see eye to eye with individual opinions expressed, as we have a vision for the game to uphold. However, when able, we will explain our reasoning behind specific design choices. We will also use data, not just anecdotal evidence to validate whether something we chose to do was a good idea or not.
In other news, we have a LIVE streamed panel at Pax East, that is occurring on March 10th at 12:00pm EST. The developers will be going over the current state of the Vietnam beta and how things have progressed since day 1. Lastly, we'd like to address some feedback and discussions regarding Rising Storm 2: Vietnam's development, before the PAX East event.
- First and foremost, we want to quell any concerns that we are looking to make Vietnam more of an "arcadey" experience than RO2. We are always looking at ways to better improve the user experience, but it is important to us that what made the RO series loved by so many, stays true to that core experience. We'd love to hear your feedback, if you have any concerns regarding this subject, as we'll be listening and reading.
- We are intentionally trying to keep the depth and nuanced gameplay of the RO/RS franchise, while improving the onboarding of new players who are unfamiliar with how things work in this game/franchise/genre. We believe this is the biggest reason for public concern brought up in #1, but is a very tricky thing for us to do without upsetting the very dedicated and hardcore fans. Our intention is to improve messaging and information given to the player, without sacrificing gameplay or the mechanical depth you have all come to love. We’ll continue to iterate on these systems so that they are not so jarring to our community Veterans.
- If you have not yet received a beta key, please be patient. We know that not being able to play now can be very disappointing, especially when you see others playing. The method behind the Closed Beta is to control expectations and assumptions about what the final product may look like due to the early state of development in the initial Closed Beta waves.
- We have put you, the player, before our marketing concerns. Streamers who have keys are quite rare amongst the total amount of players invited so far and have either been invited casually or received a key at events like PAX South or the PC Gamer Weekender. There is at least 100,000 more people who want to play the beta of Rising Storm 2: Vietnam than we are willing to invite at the moment. We have invited roughly 15% of the total players who have signed up for the Closed Beta overall and will continue to double the amount of players we invite with each wave until we reach an Open Beta.
We hope this clears up confusion over what TW/AMGs intentions are for Rising Storm 2: Vietnam.
