Hello everyone,
We are the three-person indie team behind Survival Log. Much like the protagonist in our game, this project was born from a persistent "What if?" thought: What if you knew, for a fact, that the world would end tomorrow? Would you panic, or could you coolly use that knowledge to give yourself a fighting chance? This tense and strategic premise is the core of Survival Log.
In the game, you live this struggle between foresight and limitation. You have a 24-hour head start, but you're still bound by the rules of the real world: limited money, time, and cargo space. We want you to feel not like a superhuman hero, but like an ordinary person pushed to their absolute limit.
The Core Experience: Strategic Prep & Sheltered Survival
The game is structured around two distinct phases:
Pre-Outbreak: The Strategic 24-Hour Rush This is our game's most unique segment. You'll need to think like a puzzle-solver: planning routes, budgeting funds, and weighing the cost-to-benefit ratio of every purchase. Do you buy ready-to-eat meals or stockpile long-lasting rice? Reinforce your shelter first, or spend on medicine and water purification tablets? We want players to feel the satisfaction of meticulous planning and preparation.
Post-Outbreak: Realistic Shelter Management When the outbreak hits and the world outside turns hellish, your shelter becomes the entire stage. The pace slows, but the pressure shifts. Your enemies are no longer just zombies, but hunger, illness, loneliness, and the anxiety of watching your supplies dwindle. We're focusing heavily on that profound sense of security from a well-stocked room, and the contentment of managing your tiny sanctuary day by day.
The Unique "Rebirth" Loop: The Survival Log
Of course, being human, your first attempt will likely end in failure. But remember, in this game, death is a weapon, not a punishment.
Your "Survival Log" preserves crucial information gained from each life. For instance, if you learn in one run that "a city-wide blackout occurs on Day 7," you can prioritize buying hand-crank chargers or consuming your frozen food first in the next cycle. Or, if you note that "Supermarket X has a massive canned food sale on the last day before the outbreak," you can stretch your limited funds further.
This system ensures every attempt matters, allowing you to genuinely feel yourself growing from a clueless survivor into a seasoned expert of the apocalypse.
Current Progress & An Invitation
The game is currently in active pre-production, and our small team (designer, programmer, artist) is hard at work building the foundations of this world. In future logs, we'll share more on the supply system, how survival stats interact, and the pet that might keep you company.
We'd love to hear your thoughts! Does this "hoard-and-hunker-down" survival concept appeal to you? What's one "unusual" item you'd stockpile for peace of mind in a crisis? Let us know in the comments!
If Survival Log sounds interesting to you, please consider adding it to your Steam wishlist. It means the world to a small indie team like ours and helps you stay updated.
