This update includes the following changes:
Added new Hana Klo achievements
Improved rendering performance in the Arcade Mode map scene
New Hana Klo Achievements
Three new achievements have been added to Hana Klo, based on your total accumulated EXP:
Beginner — Reach 50,000 total EXP
Intermediate — Reach 100,000 total EXP
Advanced — Reach 200,000 total EXP
I considered adding achievements with a wider variety of requirements, but for this first set, I decided to focus on long-term goals that reward players for continuing to play. For that reason, these achievements are currently based solely on total accumulated EXP.
Once you get the hang of it, the Beginner and Intermediate achievements should be relatively easy to unlock, but the Advanced achievement may prove more challenging.
For reference, during debugging, it took me 145 plays—or roughly nine hours—to unlock it.
Rendering Performance Improvements
After clearing a stage in Arcade Mode, the game displays an overhead view of the full map before zooming in on your current location.
I found that this sequence could place a relatively heavy load on some systems, so I implemented clipping to skip unnecessary rendering calculations outside the visible screen area.
The scene enlarges a 320×320 sprite over the game’s 320×200 display area. With this optimization, calculations for the portions extending beyond the screen are now omitted, improving rendering performance during the sequence.
Price Update
With this update, the Hana Klo beta period is coming to an end, and development will now shift back toward Arcade Mode.
As the game’s overall content has expanded, including the full addition of Hana Klo, the price of Battle Hanafuda will be increased by US$1.
Thank you to everyone who played Hana Klo during the beta period and shared feedback. Your comments have been extremely helpful.
Although the beta period is ending, I may continue to make adjustments and improvements to Hana Klo in future updates. Should you notice anything that could be improved, please feel free to share your thoughts in the Steam Community or in a review.
