This update reworks the core economy to make growth and survival real decisions rather than automatic actions.
Reproduction is no longer free. Expanding your population now costs soft currency, making timing and scale matter. Food collection has become the primary source of EvoShards, turning reproduction into an investment rather than an obvious choice.
Gene activation has also changed. Instead of earning free DNA points from population growth, genes now cost EvoShards as well. This means you must choose between immediate genetic upgrades and strengthening your income.
EvoShards income is now fully visible during the match. You can see where your EvoShards are coming from and how different actions contribute to your economy, making decisions clearer and more transparent.
Time is now shown in seconds instead of ticks. The simulation still runs on ticks internally, but the interface now reflects time in a way that’s easier to read and reason about during a match.
The tutorial has been updated to reflect these changes, with a stronger focus on the new economy and the choices you make during a match.
Overall, this update shifts the game away from repetitive button mashing and toward deliberate decisions about growth, genes, and survival.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR GENETICA?
Right now, my focus is on introducing predators into the world of Genetica. While I can’t share many details yet, the most promising direction is a single predator creature with a unique growth mechanic, designed to interact with existing ecosystems in new and unexpected ways.
