Hi everyone,
Today we want to show another step forward in the railway editor.
Until now, most of the focus has been on placing and connecting rails.
Now we are starting to improve how those rails actually look inside the layout.
Watch the Editor Test
In this video we show these new rail finishes, elevated supports, the stopper and the track switch indicator inside the editor.
Different Rail Finishes
We have added different rail configurations so tracks do not always look like they are simply floating over open ground.
Right now we are testing several options:
Open rails over terrain.
Concrete block sections.
Concrete columns that extend down to ground level.
These supports are especially useful for creating bridges, elevated sections and layouts with more vertical variation.
They also help the railway feel more integrated into the environment instead of looking suspended in the air.
Small Track Details
In the video we also show a few smaller railway pieces.
One is a track stopper, used to close the end of a rail and prevent the train from simply running off the track.
We also show how a track switch indicator can be placed and configured.
This indicator is optional and mainly visual.
The actual track switching will be controlled directly from the train control panel, so the player does not need to walk over to the junction every time.
There is still a lot we want to add to the editor, but these smaller systems help make layouts feel much more complete and believable.
Thanks for following the development of Speed Rivals: Model Trains.
