Updates
- Removed the blinking indicator that appeared when the conditions for completing the Forest were no longer met.
- Added an overall forest progress indicator to each save slot.
- When zooming out the camera, Areas that have never been completed will now display a "!" mark.
- Added a warning at the beginning of a guide when its prerequisite guide has not been read.
- Unvisited markers are now displayed only on roads that can be reached directly from revealed Areas. As a side effect, some dead ends now display unvisited markers as well. (This does not affect puzzles.)
Progress Report
I've been working toward releasing Tiling Town in Q3 2026, but given the amount of work remaining, this seems unlikely.
I sincerely apologize to everyone who has been looking forward to the game, but I've decided to postpone the release.
Puzzle Design
The puzzles for six towns are already complete, and I'm currently checking that each puzzle has a unique solution and adjusting their difficulty.
This process is taking longer than expected.
If you’ve fully cleared Tiling Forest, you'll probably already have an idea that Tiling Town also features a structure where multiple areas intertwine to form a single large puzzle. As a result, when an alternative solution is found in one area, it often leads to large-scale revisions that affect surrounding areas as well.
Since fixing puzzles after release would cause compatibility issues with save data, we can’t just rush through this work and go ahead with the release.
Hint Feature
I've been receiving a lot of feedback asking for a feature that shows which areas can be completed, but the intended progression of this game is to solve areas negatively (proving that an area cannot be completed) in order to narrow down which areas can be solved positively (completed).
For that reason, I didn't want to create a hint feature that would allow players to skip the entire negative-solving phase.
Instead, I decided to provide hints that explain which guides to refer to and which cells to focus on in order to solve an area using the tiles you currently have.
I hope this will create a stronger connection between the guides and the actual puzzles, making it less likely that players will have the experience of "I read the all guides, but it didn't contain any useful information".

At the moment, the guides and hints for the first four towns are complete.
This hint feature was not part of the original plan when I set the initial release schedule, so adding it has also had an impact on the development timeline.
I expect the release to be in November or December at the earliest, but depending on future progress, it may be delayed a little longer.
(There are some interesting puzzle games reportedly coming out this year, such as DEG, Order of the Sinking Star, and Trifolium: The Adventures of Gary Pretzelneck. I hope you'll enjoy those while you wait!)
