THE LONG AWAITED DATABASE DESIGNER TWO IS OUT!
After seeing the success of Database Designer's Supporter Edition for the discount (4 sales total, we are officially retiring and joining the Bourgeoise), I decided to sit down and make a few edits to Database Designer!
I basically gave it a full feature overhaul on some aspects while increasing the quality of Database Designer's Exports! This includes:
Lambda System Redone
- Replaced string-spliced predicates with an expression IR (AST)
- Added an EF-focused "Lambda Logic" node category and removed the freeform Lambda node:
- Select: Field — explicit key selector (x => x.Field) for Order By
- Where: Equals / Not Equals / Greater / Less / Contains
- Where: And / Or / Not
- Proper parameter binding (one shared parameter)
- Correct boolean precedence
- Nested predicates now work correctly
- Predicate literals combine correctly
- No longer parses "=>" strings
- Existing generated code remains compatible

Backend / API Export
- Building a project now emits real endpoint logic instead of TODO stubs
- Each API function's NodeWalker graph is compiled to Controllers/Logic/.g.cs, and the controller action calls it
- Functions with no graph get a clear stub; graphs that need request inputs generate the logic file plus a wiring note
- RLS still exports full Postgres policies (CREATE ROLE, ENABLE/FORCE RLS, CREATE POLICY … USING/WITH CHECK, grants, helper functions)

Row and Project Templates (STILL WIP, FIX COMING!)
- Project Import / Export fixing WIP!
- Templates and Projects are no longer encrypted with your account info at export (now readable/shareable)
- Export bundles session.json + Scripts + project icon (functions and visual node graphs included)
- Built projects go to DatabaseDesignerData\\\\Exports\\\[/p]
- Imported projects come from DatabaseDesignerData\\\\Imports\[/p]
- Every folder in Imports\\ that contains a session.json is imported as a new project (re-encrypted for your account); duplicate names get a numbered suffix
- Example templates (rows and projects) now install automatically on login

New Templates
- User Accounts — secure sign-in: unique username/email, hashed password, created_at
- Blog Posts — title, body, published flag, timestamp
- Inventory Items — SKU, name, quantity, price, JSONB metadata
- Project templates: Secure Sign-In (users + sessions), Simple Chat (users + messages), Simple Marketplace (users + items + orders)
- Bundled in DB Designer; Steam Workshop support planned

Music Player
- Custom music is now supported — plays files from your OS music library (NAudio)
- Playlists: create a playlist, add songs with the + button, play start-to-finish with auto-advance (saved per account)
- Each song shows a play counter under its title (persistent, per account)
- Respects the volume slider, keeps playing after the window is closed, and supports seeking on the progress bar

Theme System
- A theme system is now added — apply a theme instantly or set one as your default for next launch
- Themes are folders with a theme.json (colors) plus an optional background image
- Starter themes install automatically: Default, Y2K Chrome (bundled wallpaper), Midnight, Sandstone
- Safe resource resolution so a broken theme can't crash the UI

RLS & API Editors
- Added an X (close) button to both editors
- Fixed closing logic — closing fully removes the window (no more stacked copies); reopening loads your last saved state
Important
- Delete the folders at:
DatabaseDesignerData\\\\Row Templates\[/p]
DatabaseDesignerData\\\\Project Templates\[/p]
(they predate the new format and won't import cleanly)
The UI colors might act up a little, this is actively a WIP fix i'm trying to finalize!
Finally, I will be making an update to the Supporter's Edition (or two) once the above is fixed!
The first will be the music player app from Database Designer as a standalone application. The second will be a Nier style server viewer!
Once everything looks good, I also plan on working on a frontend creation system too!
Please be super vocal about any bugs you see, this system is actively WIP!
Thank you to everyone who uses Database Designer and gets the Supporter Edition! Your support helps give us the encouragement to make cooler updates!
