DELTA-4: TERMINAL PROTOCOL
SYSTEM UPDATE RECEIVED...
PATCHING TERMINAL INTERFACE...
RECALIBRATING SHIP SYSTEMS...
STATUS: COMPLETE
A new build of the Delta-4: Terminal Protocol Demo is now live!
This update is one of the largest passes on the demo so far, with improvements to terminal interaction, subsystem behavior, the solar array sequence, demo progression, widescreen support, stability, and even what happens when you fail to keep Delta-4 alive.
Thank you to everyone who has been playing, experimenting, breaking things, and sending feedback. A lot of what changed in this build came directly from watching how players actually interact with the ship.
☠ GAME OVER, REIMAGINED
Failure aboard Delta-4 has a little more weight now.
When a critical ship system reaches its limit, the terminal begins to shake as the ship fails around you, followed by a new explosion sequence before reaching the Game Over screen.
If you've already witnessed your spectacular demise enough times, press Enter to skip the cutscene.
We've also fixed a particularly nasty issue where simply sitting at the main menu for too long could eventually kill you.
Apparently Delta-4 was getting impatient.
Ship degradation now begins only after you start a game, load a game, or begin the tutorial :)
📡 LIVE DEMO PROGRESS
The status bar now tracks your progress toward the demo's two major objectives:
Stop the rogue engineering process.
Reach the Med Bay.
Progress updates immediately as objectives are completed, giving you a better idea of how far you've made it into the current demo.
Reaching the Med Bay now also triggers a proper Thanks for Playing screen with options to wishlist Delta-4, follow development, provide feedback, or ignore all sensible advice and continue exploring the ship.
There may still be things you haven't found.
☀ SOLAR ARRAY PILOTING OVERHAUL
The solar alignment sequence has been substantially rebuilt.
Alignment is no longer a simple positioning exercise. The maintenance craft now has momentum, hull drift, directional thrust, and a lock timer.
You'll need to counter your movement, stabilize the craft, and hold alignment long enough for the system to lock onto the array.
Space, it turns out, does not have brakes.
💻 THE TERMINAL GETS BETTER
Several improvements make the terminal behave more like an actual shell.
Tab completion has been added, making navigation and command entry considerably faster.
The vi command now asks for confirmation before creating a new file and prevents duplicate filenames.
Shell scripts can now be executed using their full filesystem path.
Y/N prompts now behave more naturally and inherit the active terminal color.
Context-sensitive help has been expanded, along with additional main-menu tips and better hints when attempting to reach an inaccessible host.
We've also fixed issues that allowed players to type while terminal output was still printing and another bug responsible for sluggish terminal response.
🖥 WIDESCREEN & DISPLAY IMPROVEMENTS
Players using ultrawide and other non-standard displays now have an option to disable image stretching, helping preserve the intended appearance of Delta-4's terminal environments.
Terminal text will also automatically scale to the available window size.
That means wide command output such as top should finally remain inside the terminal instead of disappearing into whatever dimensional anomaly apparently existed beyond the right side of the monitor.
⚙ SUBSYSTEM REBOOTS
Subsystems no longer magically reboot instantaneously.
Rebooting now initiates a proper boot sequence and cooldown period before the system becomes available again.
We've also corrected an issue where the background environment could change before the reboot sequence had actually completed.
📊 TELEMETRY IMPROVEMENTS
The telemetry system received several fixes and usability improvements.
The history window is now wider and scrollable, telemetry correctly returns to green when switching back to the default theme, and status changes now appear immediately rather than potentially waiting up to 60 seconds.
We've also added changeable terminal color themes for players who prefer something other than Delta-4's traditional green glow.
🛰 TUTORIAL & POLISH
The tutorial received another cleanup pass.
We've fixed a crash that could occur when exiting the tutorial, removed unnecessary repeated messages, added clearer step-progress labels, expanded contextual guidance, and removed outdated help text.
The Solar Array console has also been cleaned up by removing unused files and directories.

THANK YOU FOR PLAYING DELTA-4
The demo is still actively evolving, and player feedback continues to shape it.
If something feels confusing, frustrating, suspicious, broken, or simply not quite right, tell us.
That's exactly what this build is for.
And remember:
Delta-4 is damaged.
The crew is gone.
The systems are failing.
The terminal is all you have.
