"Crime is common. Logic is rare. Therefore it is upon the logic rather than upon the crime that you should dwell." -- Sherlock Holmes
Cities are not clockwork, they are chaos machines with a mayor attached. Most of what breaks your plans is not the ordinary day, it is the ugly little surprise that arrives precisely because you acted as if it could not. Version 1.5 leans into that reality: crime is no longer a single checkbox, it’s a spectrum of consequences that can become a death spiral every single day.
Also, the game looks better, runs smoother, and stops doing a few ridiculous things that made it feel like a kids toy.

Crime and policing reworked
📰 Crime categories are now distinct events with distinct consequences, each with its own mechanics and effects: Armed Robbery, Break In, Larceny, Destruction, Grand Theft Auto, Violence, and Major Crime.
💸 Residents, businesses and the city lose money due to crime in different ways.
🗞️ The Newspaper reports crime more accurately, with specific stories that match what actually happened.
🏢 New build: Police Headquarters, houses 50 police officers, with coverage over a large area of patrol and dispatch to crime events.
🚨 Smarter police behavior with realistic decisions about where to patrol and how to respond to incidents.
📊 Crime rates now have statistical backbone: frequency, clearance rates, and moving out behavior are tuned from real publications, including FBI Crime in the Nation (2023) and Laura Dugan (1999) on victimization and moving decisions.

New builds
🎬 Movie theater, with colorful architecture and neon lights, employs 30 workers in leisure and hospitality industry.
🍇 Vineyard, low density agricultural business that also works as a tourist attraction.
🏙️ Premium condo, low density apartments for the affluent.
🏠 Two story house, low density, single family housing for larger families.
UI and visuals
🖥️ UI scale setting added, a big quality of life upgrade for HighDPI displays.
🏛️ Many UI dialogs improved, cleaner, clearer, with more intuitive text.
🌗 Lighting upgraded, nicer shadows and an overall better look of the game.
🎨 Improved anti aliasing and bloom graphic setting, and the glitchy artifacts when using them together are gone.
Performance
🚀 Large cities should feel less like punishment, targeted optimizations reduce excessive lag.
🧠 Rendering performance improved, significantly lower graphics and memory load in many cases.
🧱 Fixed a nasty issue blocking building in brand new cities until reload.
👨👩👧👦 Crime driven moving out behavior fixed, young people no longer vanish alone by default, sometimes whole families leave when crime hits them.
🚗 Fixed a crash when setting car licenses to 0.
🧯 Many other small bug fixes that stop the game from insulting you.
Microlandia 1.5 is another statement against the fairy tale version of a city builder, where problems are smooth, linear, and politely scheduled. Crime is nasty, civic life is asymmetric, and the Newspaper now tells you a story closer to the truth, not meaningless templates. Build accordingly, over invest in what prevents ruin, and don’t trust anything that looks too tidy.
