Today’s update focuses on clarity, feedback, and timing consistency, with a few meaningful gameplay changes based on player feedback. Also smoothing out performance in preparation for the fast-approaching January early access launch!
New song selection flow
Some players mentioned it wasn’t always clear which difficulty was selected or which button actually started a song. The song flow has been reworked so each step is explicit and easier to follow:
Select a song
Select an instrument
Select a difficulty
Perform!
In multiplayer, all players must now lock in their selection before moving on, preventing songs from starting while someone is still deciding.

Improv Mode and play head improvements
Improvements aimed at making playing and improvising feel more responsive and readable:
The play head is now smoother, eliminating jitter
When you play notes, the play head changes color, giving clearer feedback
During Improv Mode, the play head now emits particles, making improvisation feel more energetic and expressive
Note tail early release penalty (new)
Previously, releasing a sustained note early had no scoring impact beyond seeing the tail continue on screen.
Now, releasing a note early will cause that note to be judged as “Bad.”
This makes sustain timing more consistent with how other note timing is scored and better rewards clean holds.

Performance fixes
Under the hood improvements include:
Improved overall FPS smoothness
Reduced frame times for more consistent performance across systems
As always, thanks for playing the demo and for the continued feedback. The new song flow and timing changes are especially something I’d love to hear thoughts on.
