Hello fellow Cells, this is BABA Games.
Over the past month and a half, in addition to launching the Undo feature, the developer has also finalized the controller control scheme, learned and understood core technologies, planned and built the Demo version, adjusted and fixed a few bugs based on player feedback, and rolled out new features.
On the marketing side, we successfully applied and participated in the 2026 Board Game Festival, and our 25% discount is coming to an end. We also joined a small indie game competition and connected with more players.
On a personal growth note, the developer is getting started with game art, hoping to achieve breakthroughs in future UI optimization.
Without further ado, here’s what’s in this update:
Controller Support
Native support for Xbox controller button input and UI prompts.
DS4/5 and Nintendo Switch Pro controller mapping support (no UI prompts); buttons physically correspond one-to-one with the Xbox layout.
Note: All the above controller models can be used with Steam Input disabled. They are all natively supported in essence, but only Xbox controllers have UI prompts matching their layout.
New Controller-Specific Features
Detects controller and mouse/keyboard input, with seamless switching between tutorial text and UI text.
Right Stick simulates mouse movement; A Button simulates left mouse click.
A volume control button has been added to the Settings page; controllers can adjust the volume by interacting with this button.
In the Level Select screen, pages can be quickly switched using LB/RB.
The mouse cursor changes to a style suited for controller players when using a controller.
The setting for swapping mouse functions also applies to controller trigger functions.
Additionally
Minor improvements to some tutorial text descriptions in Traditional Chinese.
Important Future Update Directions
Development of the Demo version, so more people can experience the fun of Cell-Cell Lab (the build is under review).
Game experience improvements centered on UI optimization, which will also bring more controller UI prompts into the game.
Localization support, to be prioritized according to wishlist data.
Advanced controller features: support for rumble, touchpad buttons, Joy‑Con, and more.
Level difficulty curve adjustments.
Recent Weekly Update Work
To celebrate the launch of controller support, new levels will be added in a subsequent minor update.
Added support for level preview images when hovering over level buttons with the mouse.
Due to an oversight, Traditional Chinese store assets were not uploaded. They will be added retroactively, and we apologize to Traditional Chinese players for this.
As the Spring Festival approaches, after this week’s update work, the developer will be busy with related arrangements and may not be able to fix issues as quickly. Please actively provide feedback on controller experience and bugs in the game community, update page comments, or any other channel where you can reach the developer.
Thank you all!
The 2026 Board Game Festival discount for Cell‑Cell Lab is coming to an end. Interested players, don’t miss out.
(Due to time constraints, only Simplified Chinese promotional materials are used this time.)
