Hello everyone! My name is Tyler and I’m the solo developer behind FRENETIKA. I’m extremely excited to announce that the first glimpse of the game is now available in anticipation for this year’s Steam Next Fest.
Download today and give it a try! This demo contains a small sample of the game’s features and should give you a good idea of what’s to come in the full release. If you have feedback or run into issues, please reach out directly and I’ll do my best to get back to you.
The demo is a little scrappy and has some lingering bugs.
Speed Run Challenge:
Start practicing your speed runs through the Demo and devise your strats. During Steam Next Fest, a competition will be posted that will allow players to earn a free copy of the full game by submitting their best times. Stay tuned for more information!
Demo Known Issues:
Audio/Video
Audio and Video settings are not saved between play sessions
Video settings are automatically benchmarked and set every time the game is launched. I recommend playing with those automatic settings for best results.
If Audio settings are changed in the main menu, the sliders are not accurately updated in the in-game pause menu. This might lead to weird volume levels if messing with both.
Framerate/performance can definitely take a hit in later rounds if you don’t scoop up bones and Mana/Health orbs. You can lower your graphic settings for better performance.
Spells
BYST impact VFX can appear in the wrong place.
If out of Mana, but you let the spell bar reach the end and don’t switch, when picking up Mana from killed Skeletal Servants will fire that spell immediately.
Green Crystal Fractals (Freezing Fracas, Risky Rebounds, [Fire]) do not interact with Mini Boss enemy. However, Risky Rebounds will chain to the Mini Boss from other enemies, but only target the main skull.
Enemies
Flying Blue Servants (introduced in Round 5) can sometimes occupy the same space.
Mini Boss (introduced in Round 8) can have the minion skulls clip into geometry.
Misc
Loading screen text can be cut off depending on resolution
When entering the Eternal Library, UI text can flash for a frame before appearing properly.
Frenetika The Mage option in the Eternal Library can remain blacked out if Lore Pages are collected out of order. You can still access the menu to read the Lore Pages if desired. Menu option will become visible when Part One is collected.
Rarely, the staff and book of spells aren’t put away when accessing the crystal fractal shop.
Collision on the walkway up the tower in round 3 (mountain top) can be hard to navigate at times.
Occasionally, staff and book of spells don’t lower once combat ends.
It should go into the right position if you read from your book of spells for a moment.
