Let's talk about the Story and Choices!
What Makes a Hero is all about running a fantasy equipment store. However, some of your customers may arrive with more complicated circumstances than you might expect.
Take this cheerful fellow for instance.
There is nothing out of the ordinary about venturing into the wilderness to hunt goblins. Good for him… right?
But before he ever sets foot in your shop, his worried wife pays you a visit. She hands you a family portrait and asks you to turn him away when he arrives...
Now, you are faced with several choices:
Will you listen to his wife and refuse to sell him anything?
Or will you disregard her request and sell him the equipment?
Will you give him the right weapon for the job?
Will you support him in other ways to make sure he succeeds?
Or perhaps you will show him something that reminds him of what truly matters?
Each of these decisions has consequences.
You might receive new items.
You might discover new entries on the bulletin board.
You might encounter new visitors, bringing even more choices and follow-ups.
Or all of the above!
This is just one story with many different outcomes. Some of them connect to other stories, unlocking even more narrative branches.
Will you give your customers what they ask for? Turn them away? Or perhaps offer them something entirely different?
The way you deal with your customers shapes the larger story, and before long, you will see how different plots and decisions intertwine!
