Hey everyone,
I’m going to be real with you: I’ve been working like a absolute madman on Myth Requiem since the demo, and I truly thought I could have the first version ready for you tomorrow. I was wrong.
The scope creep got me. I kept adding things, wanting to make it better, and as a solo dev, it just became too much to handle by the deadline. It was too much different type of work in a very small time frame and I need more time to polish it.
New Date: June 11th
I’m pushing the release back about six weeks. It’s a gut punch for me to say this, but it’s the only way.
The game will be Free
I’ve made a big decision: Myth Requiem is going to be free. To be completely transparent, the Steam Fest and wishlist numbers didn't hit where I needed them to be for me to do this full-time. Right now, I’m actually out there looking for a job to pay the bills. But this project is something my wife and I truly love and we’ve put our souls into it. Since I can't rely on it for a living right now, I will continue to work on it as a passion project. There are too many myths that I read that I want to translate to this world.
SneakPeak. The first world/map: Egypt
I don't want to just give you bad news. I’ve been pouring work into the first world: Egyptian Mythology.
It’s got 15 cities, tons of dungeons, secrets and a lot of challenges and myths. It core of course is the Egyptian mythology, but you can encounter some creatures from the African folklore on the south, Phoenician in the North East, Chinese and Hindu around the ports of Berenice, Demonology/Angelology creatures as more challenging encounters and some Greek, Roman, and Nordic as "celestial bodies". But your main goal is to hunt down the 8 sacred scarabs.
Once you beat those trials, you’ll unlock the path to the next world based on the Chinese Mythology.
I want to open the development to the community
I want this to be a community thing. In the next few weeks, I’m releasing some tools I built from scratch. I want you to help me create creatures and myths. If you want to help me expand this world, the door is open.
Thanks for sticking around
I’m sorry it’s taking longer than I promised. Being a solo dev is a rollercoaster and I definitely tripped on the "scope creep" part, but I’m not stopping. I’m incredibly proud of what’s here and I can’t wait to finally show it to you on June 11th.
Thanks for understanding and support.
