In view of the game's launch in just over three weeks, we have updated the demo version to align it with the final content that will be available after release.
For players who prefer to play the demo before purchasing the full game:
Campaign mode progress saved in the demo will be available in the final version.
Unit group configurations in multiplayer mode will be available in the final version.
Steam achievement progress earned in the demo will be available in the final game. Once the game is launched, any achievements obtained during the demo will unlock.
General Changes (not all applicable to the demo):
The Aarbar and Corx factions come with significant changes. More and different units, additional abilities, as well as various stat adjustments have been implemented.
We've added more wild creatures, some with unexpected intelligence, and structures, such as catapults, for the campaign missions.
The mission selector now displays more relevant details for preparing your groups before starting a mission. For example, important enemy encounters, collectibles on the map, and the stats required to achieve a maximum star rating.
We've added Steam achievements for both campaign and multiplayer modes. Some achievements present difficult, yet interesting challenges. Are you capable of completing a mission without any casualties?
Important Changes in the Demo Version:
The three available campaign missions have been updated to match the final game content. For players who have played previous demo versions, we recommend starting a new game as both rewards and collectibles have changed.
We have limited multiplayer mode to skirmishes against the AI. Online mode will be available in the final version of the game.
You will be able to play skirmishes using the Aarbar faction. The Corx faction will be available for AI play, but you will be able to view its units, configure groups, and test it in the combat simulator.
You will be able to view the details of all units available for the campaign, even if they are locked.
A few words from the developer...
Only three weeks left! It's been a very long, but satisfying journey. Thank you all for your support and interest in the game. We believe the final version of the game will deliver the experience we envisioned: a different kind of strategy game where every action is relevant. One mistake can lead to the loss of an entire unit group. A correct move can lead to a clean victory, without losses. Each mission presents different challenges. Missions where the number of units you can deploy is limited. Missions where you'll have to face creatures and find a way to withstand their claws and stomps. Missions where you'll have to demolish structures. Missions where Corx units will present solid defenses that will force you to carefully consider every move. The new abilities open up a world of possibilities (temporary improvements to damage, resistance, evasion...). Tank groups, support groups, offensive groups, ranged or melee. I, personally, have tried many combinations, and I can say that several of them work very well. However, there's always that chance that things will go very wrong... a Corx group moves to an unexpected hex, coincidentally has a very powerful ability, like the Holy Hammer, and bam! half your group is eliminated. You didn't expect it. They weren't in a defensive formation. They didn't have shield points... But, you find a way to counteract it.
Thank you all very much, and I hope you enjoy the game's launch.
Alberto
