Woodland Rebels is going to be part of the PvE Survival Crafting Fest on Steam which runs from August 31 to September 7. For the occasion, we are releasing a free content update for the demo.
We are inviting content creators to livestream the game during the event. Contact us if you're interested in the possibility of featuring your stream on the Steam game page of the game.
Demo Content Update 0.04
A demo was released recently on Steam on August 20. We are releasing today the very first content update for this demo. With update 0.04, we are introducing 15 new craftable items, 7 new town quests, 7 new skills, 4 new enemies, an outlaw behavior rework, as well as bug fixes and adjustment based on the feedback from players.
Use the Sword of Nature to entangle enemies, preventing them from moving, or the Crystal Shield to damage enemies that are attacking you. The fire sword can be used as both a weapon and a torch. The new wooden sword gives you access to a simple weapon to craft when the ingredients for more advanced weapons are not available.
Use the wardrobe to change your clothes. This is especially useful with the revival mechanic, since you may have to change character often, respawning with unwanted clothes. This can be fixed by simply visiting one of the wardrobes you built.
Outlaws have been reworked to move in groups. This makes them significantly more menacing, especially when a group of outlaws grow in size, compared to the previous version where they would wander on the map individually.
All unique animal camps now have at least 3 tasks, allowing you to reach the friendly relation level. For instance the wandering bards will ask you to find a new drummer for their band, while the trade caravan are on the lookout for rare items. Animal camp tasks give a lot of favor, which can then be used to obtain items from their inventory.

Greatly improved outlaw behaviors
-Instead of spawning randomly, outlaws gang are formed when too many wanderers are in the same area (3 minimum).
-A notification will appear when a new outlaw gang is formed.
-Outlaws now have a leader of the gang, other outlaw members will follow the leader, making them stay in groups instead of wandering by themselves.
-Outlaws now pick much more type of items, and can craft more items on their own, including weapons, tools, bags, healing mixtures.
-Outlaws are now better at escaping from danger.
-Wanderers now spawn x2 more often, to balance the fact that more are likely to become outlaws.
Other improvements and fixes
-Speed boost (potions, boots, ring) now also affect mounted animals speed
-Scouts now warn you of infested plants, in addition of human attacks
-Humans will ignore attacking ghosts, bugs, fish and birds
-Wanderers can now join special camps when you ask them to follow you to a town (knight, druid, bards...)
-Humans spawn a bit more often, but their attack speed is reduced
-Fixed human behavior so they try to stay near their camp more.
-Dead towns (with no population) now show a destroyed totem and all their items can be taken (and the favor is disabled)
-Added mouse side buttons to rotate camera
-Fixed some dialogue choices not working
-Balanced some stats
What’s Next?
After the PvE Survival Crafting Fest, we will start looking at some of the features people have been asking for the most. For example a translation system to add more languages, better support for Steam Deck, and in the longer term start exploring co-op and other scenarios.
We will most likely time the next content update with our next Steam event in October. But in the meantime there will be plenty of bug fix updates if needed.
