/!\WARNING!/!\ The multiplayer steam mode is only available on the unstable branch of the game (Windows, Linux), please read the instructions to connect to it
Many wait for it, here it is finally, the steam multiplayer! You will no longer need to use hamachi, evolve, or manipulate the ip and ports of your modem now!
This mode will allow you to connect to the game that your friends on steam have launched (as Host).
Multiplayer > Join > Choose the server of your friend on the list > Your character > Play. Simple!
About the unstable branch
Before any tests, backup (create a copy of) your save folder:
"documents/Planet Centauri
or
C:\Users[YOUR PROFIL]\AppData\Roaming\PlanetCentauri"
Just copy it to an other location.
You should do that because the version of the unstable branch is often not the same of the stable branch, if you return to an older version of the game, it maybe will be unable to load your saves.
How to test the unstable branch
In your steam library, right-click on planet centauri, go to betas and add this code to unlock the branch: 1234567654321
Then choose the right branch.
At this point the game is now Planet Centauri [unstable].
/!\ Be careful, BACKUP your SAVE folder before /!\
How to return to the stable branch
When the tests are done, you can return to the stable branch with the same procedure.
But you should restore your save backup (or wait the official release of the patch of the same version).
