Greetings, Saint Candidates! 👋
Hello everyone, and thank you for playing Berserker Girl!
This update brings a brand new healing system, permanent progression, and a major refinement of the moment-to-moment controls.
1. Estus (Healing Flask) System
A rechargeable healing item system has been added.
Usage: Gamepad Y button / Keyboard default "A" key
Use when your health isn't full and you have at least one Estus charge.
There's a brief delay when drinking, and taking damage will cancel the healing
The HUD displays your Estus slots — bright icons for available charges, darker icons for used slots.
2. Permanent Kill System
Defeating certain bosses and collecting special Estus items is now permanently recorded.
Even if you die and respawn, bosses you've already defeated will not reappear.
If you defeat a boss but die before picking up their Estus drop, don't worry — the Estus will still be waiting for you at the same location when you return. No progress lost!
3. Control Improvements
Improved air control — moving left and right mid-jump now feels much more responsive.
Coyote Time (0.15s) — You can now still jump for a brief moment after walking off a ledge, eliminating those frustrating "I pressed jump but fell" moments.
Jump Buffer (0.15s) — Press jump just before landing and the jump will trigger automatically upon touching the ground.
Dodge Roll Buffer with instant direction change — The direction you press is reflected the moment the button is pressed.
Attack Buffer (0.15s) — Consecutive attack inputs now chain together more naturally.
Running jump distance adjusted — No more accidentally flying too far on platform jumps.
4. Enemy AI & Combat
Fixed a bug where enemies would occasionally freeze mid-combat.
Improved enemy detection — they'll now notice you even when you approach from behind at close range.
Balance adjustment — some enemy HP values have been lowered to keep combat pacing snappier.
5. UI Improvements
Key remapping now has a Reset to Default button (Options > Keyboard Settings).
General UI polish for smoother and more natural menu interactions.
⚠ Note for Existing Save Files
With the Estus system being added, players using existing save files will need to collect Estus flasks from scratch. Your save data itself will load normally — your chapter progress and current location are fully preserved.
