Hey strangers! It's been a long minute, but here's a quick update on the playtest.
A few days ago I tested the actual FIXERS build, lobby and raid map, with a small group. Rigs ranged from 16 to 64GB of RAM and GPUs from an RTX 2060 up to an RX 7900 XTX, so we got real performance data across the board. The goal is 40 to 60fps on high on the 2060 under a decent stress load.
Proximity voice chat is working and all the core logic is functioning. There are some timing issues with replication and game saves, but those are being resolved now. Once that's smoothed out, smaller playtest groups start, beginning with the Founders, then everyone accepted through signups.
As some of you know, this got delayed by months after I lost my technical dev, so I went full solo and rebuilt the core code from scratch while juggling a couple smaller projects. The good news is the core is now super solid and merged into my original project with all my assets and environments. Once matchmaking is tested and performance is locked in, I'll keep moving assets over to the new core.
From there the rest rolls out as we go. The fight club, PvE lore missions with 4 player co-op, expanding the lobby into the open world vision, cybernetic movement for wall running and jumping, vehicles, and more. Once the doors open, private testing will be a regular thing.
This is my passion project, my take on a Kane & Lynch 3 blended with a few of my other favorite games and themes. To everyone who wishlisted, joined the Discord, became a Founder, or even just told a friend, thank you. It means the world and I'm excited to grow this with you all.
You can see some of the work behind the core systems here:
I'll be back soon with news on a project finishing up in the next couple months. And I'm even more locked in now, since my son was born on the 24th. Much love everyone!
-T.
