Himari:
Today is Koshōgatsu, the Little New Year.
Komari-chan, I’ve prepared the mizuki branches and the four-colored rice dumplings.
They say the dumplings on the mizuki branches symbolize the rich harvest of the four seasons.
Komari:
Since I have to enjoy delicious food with Himari again this year,
I’ll make mizuki dumplings and ask the Toshigami deity (a traditional New Year god in Japan) for blessings.
…And then, let’s eat them next week!
Himari:
Yes!
…Oh, and while we make them, we’ll also pray that everyone watching our Secret Communication will have a fruitful year.
Komari:
…Himari, are you ready yet?
The dumplings will get hard, you know?
