Hey everyone! First off, thank you for the support, this response is beyond anything we imagined!
The closed playtest is done, and the results blew us away. Players didn't just try Bioneers, they got hooked:
Average playtime: 3.5 hours (in a build with only 2 hours of content)
16,000+ new wishlists in just a couple of days
Rated 4.8 out of 5 by players
1 million views on our latest YouTube video
But the best part? The creatures you built. Here are some of our favorites from the first players:
What's Next and When you can finally play Bioneers?
Right now, we're adding muscles and bones so your creatures move realistically. It's a core mechanic that shapes how your organism survives and evolves. At the same time, we're building real biological threats: viruses, bacteria, toxins, and cancer-like mutations, along with a full immune system to hold them off.
In October, we're introducing specialised cell types such as keratinocytes, with its own division mechanics based on real biology.
In November, we're adding biomes, different environments your creatures can inhabit. Since each biome requires a different way to survive, we're building thermoreception and heat-exchange mechanics.
In December, we'll be working on the game's final goal (still under wraps for now).
Release plan:
Open Demo: February 2027, right around Steam Next Fest
Full game (around 10 hours of gameplay): March to April 2027
We may also run a few smaller playtests along the way (not confirmed yet, but keep an eye out).
