Akurat.co, a prominent Indonesian news outlet, has ranked Fortified Space as #9 on its list of 20 Best Tower Defense Games of 2026! From what I can tell in translations, the author calls it a “unique hybrid” that “combines arcade space combat with planetside tower defense.” Thank you to Akurat.co for featuring Fortified Space alongside some heavyweights in the tower defense genre.
I'm really excited to hear that folks keep finding the space sim and tower defense hybrid aspect of Fortified Space so unique. I didn't plan on making it a key selling point of the game; I just thought it would be really cool to get that continuous space-to-ground feeling. I love when spaceships actually feel like vehicles that take you places, and in this case, it's bringing you to planetside battles!
I'm continuing to work on a few new updates, so keep an eye out for them soon. A major update is in the works, and I want to take my time to make sure it's really fun before I let you all try it. It's going to feature some all-new mechanics, so it kind of feels like I'm making a whole other game that attaches to this one. I'm really excited for it, and I'm hoping it ends up being as cool as I'm imagining it.
If you've already bought the game and would like to support it further, consider leaving a Steam review! The algorithm boosts visibility for all games with ten reviews or more, so your review could help Fortified Space reach more players and gather more valuable feedback during this Early Access phase. Thank you to all the current players for supporting solo game development. It really means a lot!
Good hunting,
